Day four was all about putting the finishing touches on the campers’ runway looks and completing the final details in preparation for tomorrow’s runway show. Throughout the week, each camper has explored what fashion means to them, discovering their own unique style while learning new design and sewing skills. It has been so exciting to watch their ideas come to life as they transformed sketches and inspiration into one-of-a-kind garments they can be proud of. Tomorrow is the moment they’ve all been working toward, and we can't wait to see their creativity, confidence, and hard work shine on the runway. We are so proud of everything they have accomplished this week and are excited to celebrate all they’ve created!
Kids Camp:
-Campers continued constructing their skirts and got creative by transforming leftover fabric scraps into unique runway décor, adding special touches to tomorrow’s fashion show
-They also spent time sketching, refining their ideas, and adding the finishing touches to their fashion designs as they prepared for the runway
-To wrap up the day, campers designed their own custom sneakers by first illustrating their concepts on paper before bringing their ideas to life on personalized sneaker keychains

Pre-Teen/Teen Camp:
-Campers learned the fundamentals of styling for a fashion shoot by exploring proportion, fashion styling techniques, and the expectations of a professional stylist.
-Campers explored the importance of fashion sustainability while continuing to develop their garments, refine their sketches, and build inspiring mood boards for their final designs.
-They also got the opportunity to learn about different jobs within the fashion world by hearing from real-world fashion industry professionals during a career panel
Thank you to our professionals who shared their time and knowledge with us today: Kyle from Key Fabrics and Alex Graff from Millard Sewing!
Alex says, “Nebraska having a local fashion camp is integral to developing the next generation of designers, tailors and sewists, I wish that I had access to that growing up. It’s so cool getting to help kids find their own vision and find that sewing isn’t nearly as intimidating as they think. I got involved with fashion camp to help show kids that just because we live in Nebraska doesn’t mean we can’t be fashionable”
We're incredibly thankful for our wonderful partners at Omaha South High, who generously provide a sewing machine for every camper, as well as Goodwill Omaha, who keep our Pop-Up Shop stocked with clothing, fabrics, and other items that campers can up-cycle into something truly unique!
With excitement,
The Omaha Fashion Camp Team
