Omaha Fashion Camp 2025 Day 3

We had another amazing day at Fashion Camp! Campers made big strides on their runway looks and had a blast practicing their fashion show walks for Friday. It’s been such a joy watching their personal styles shine through in the designs they’ve been working on all week. Their confidence is growing, and so are their skills!

Kids Camp:

  • Continued learning about modeling, posing, and professionalism on the runway

  • Spent focused time bringing their projects to life for Friday’s fashion sharing

  • Designed and sewed their very own wrap skirts

  • We can’t forget accessories; these campers also made felt bags to match their looks!

Preteen/Teen camp:

  • Explored careers in the fashion industry and the many roles involved in fashion show production

  • Dedicated lab time to making progress on their final runway looks for Friday

Omaha Fashion Camp Day 2 2025!

The campers strut into day two of fashion camp!

Day Two at Omaha Fashion Camp was full of hands-on learning and skill-building! Our campers took major steps forward today, both in sewing and in personal growth. From learning how to walk with confidence to posing for the camera, and operating sewing machines, the energy was focused, fun, and inspiring.

Kids Camp Update:

  • Reviewed professionalism, good posture, how to have confidence walking into a room and on the runway.

  • In sewing, we got on the sewing machines!  Learned the basics of all of the parts of the machine as well as got to sew on paper with no thread first to get the feel of the machine and how to control it.

  • Repurposed T-shirts into fun and personal tote bags!

Preteen/Teen camp update:

  • We are learning fashion sketching and illustration - learning the measurements used in the fashion industry. The campers began sketching their flipped looks.

  • Omaha South teachers were on hand to teach campers how to put zippers into garments. Each camper made a zipper bag to practice these new skills.

  • Campers learned about Professionalism, portfolios, and what it’s like to be a model.

Omaha Fashion Camp Day 1 Update!

Hello Fashion Camp Families!

We had a fantastic first day at Omaha Fashion Camp! This marks our 11th year of camp, and each summer it is such a joy to welcome your children through our doors. We're so grateful for our incredible partners at South High, who generously provide a sewing machine for every camper, and to Goodwill Omaha, who keep our Pop-Up Shop stocked with items and fabrics our campers can up-cycle into something amazing!

Here’s a quick look at what we accomplished today:

Today’s Theme: Confidence, Creativity, and Personal Style

We kicked off camp by getting to know one another and exploring what fashion means to us. Campers reflected on personal style, confidence, and where they find inspiration. From there, they dove into hands-on projects that helped them practice interview skills, explore their creativity, and begin work on their fashion show projects for Friday!

Kids Camp Highlights:

  • Learned how to thread a needle

  • Sewed an initial and a shape on the styrofoam plates

  • Practiced sewing a button (using the shapes plate)

  • Added smaller buttons to create a garden design

  • Created personal invitations to Friday’s Fashion Show

Coming Home Today: 2 sewn plates and a fashion show invitation!

Pre-Teen/Teen Camp Highlights:

  • Learned basic hand sewing techniques

  • Created felt envelope bags (*repeat campers learned advanced stitches!)

  • Explored mood boards and pulled inspirational images from magazines

  • Learned the different parts and got familiar with sewing machines

  • Began brainstorming a personal fashion brand and designing logos

  • Visited the Goodwill Pop-Up Shop to start imagining their “flipped” fashion looks

We can’t wait for what’s ahead this week, and we’re so proud of how much the campers have already accomplished. Stay tuned for more updates, and don’t forget to join us for the Fashion Show on Friday!

With excitement,
The Omaha Fashion Camp Team
